[Following is a volunteer review of "The Three Heavens" by Paul Hitchiner.]
The Three Heavens by Paul Hitchiner is an exploration of Christian beliefs from the perspective of the New Testament. The book also offers a fresh perspective on the fundamental teachings of the New Testament.
In the first part of the book, the author states that there are two types of Christians. His explanations caught my attention because they reminded readers that being a Christian extends far beyond mere verbal affirmation. This notion paved the way for me to have a deeper examination of what it means to be a follower of Christ. As I dove further into the book, the author gave clear descriptions of the three heavens and the characteristics of those who would inhabit each realm. The section titled “Who Goes to Heaven and Who Goes to Hell?” resonated, prompting me to engage in self-reflection and evaluate my standing before God. One aspect of the book that resonated with me was the author’s emphasis on the importance of kindness, giving, and showing empathy. These are virtues that often seem to be lacking in modern societies. His ability to ground these values within the context of Christian teachings made me appreciate the creativity of the author.
I rate this book five out of five stars, not just for its thought-provoking content but also for the author’s integration of biblical verses to substantiate his teachings. Including scriptures added credibility to the lessons shared. It also provided a solid foundation upon which to build a deeper understanding of the Christian faith. I appreciate the careful editing of the book. It gave me a smooth and uninterrupted reading experience.
The only negative I noticed is that the text fonts were small, which could be an issue for some readers. The author can increase the font sizes in subsequent editions. However, this did not prevent me from enjoying the book. I recommend this book to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Christian beliefs and to those who desire to go beyond surface-level interpretations of the New Testament.
