The book Strong Heart which was authored by Charlie Sheldon and published by IRONTWINE Press is an adventurous fictional novel. ‘Strong Heart’, a treat for lovers of adventurous fiction, sees the adventures of Sarah, an orphan, who suddenly appears at the door steps of her grandfather, Tom who was set for a trip into the mountains with two others Williams and Myra. They are hesitant to go on the trip with Sarah, but eventually she ends up leading them through series of adventures.

Sarah is an endearing protagonist with great imaginations, skills and also a very fast learner. She gets her name ‘Strong Heart’ during these adventures. The novel revolves around issues such as corruption in government, child abuse, love, tracing of origins via history and archaeological researches, adventures along seas and islands and exposure to wild animals. It also shows the negative consequences of marital separation on the children from such marriages. It shows some injustice step fathers do their step daughters and how the mothers of children from such marriages should pay more attention to their female children.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed reading it, the suspense is quite good. It is interesting, teaches a number of lessons. It gives some knowledge about mountains, seas, wild life, animals that have gone into extinction. The author sure has a wild imagination which adds beauty to the book. The book, ‘Strong Heart’ would appeal most to readers who love reading about adventures. The author was able to create a convincing illusion in making his work look real.

There were a couple of typo errors in the book, such as “William knew it it was going to be a long day when he lifted his pack” in Chapter 3 page 9, “This was an argument William had had had with Alec many times” in Chapter 25 page 137. The naming of the characters in Sarah’s vision when she goes missing for eight days is a bit confusing at the beginning of her vision. I think using real names could have been more helpful. Any reader with little or no exposure to mountain and sea adventures or words related to such adventures might have a slight difficulty understanding some portions of the novel. Asides that, the usage of language and the diction in this novel is easy to understand by the reader.

The novel, ‘Strong Heart’, is quite interesting, entertaining and would be great fun for readers with great imaginations. The author describes every detail of events, places, persons, weather, leaving out no information that can aid the visual imagination of the book in the mind of its readers. It should appeal to people of all age groups.
