The book titled The 11:05 Murders by Brian O’Hare is about murders that happen at 11:05. Shocking right? This book follows a group of detectives through an investigation after a body is found: Detective Sheehan and Stewart lead the investigation. It is not an easy job either, with no clues or evidence the detectives have a lot of work to do. With several suspects the team works hard to find the killer, and then another body shows up. As the investigation proceeds other incidents are thrown at Detective Stewart, leading her to believe there is more to the case that meets the eye.
This Book has a lot of great qualities and some not so great. For instance the not so great aspects are: not relative information, not explaining abbreviations, and foul language. The not relative information is information that is not really needed for the story. Some parts of the story are solid then this information is thrown in and it kind of mucks it up and makes it confusing. Abbreviations are another thing that was an aggravation. This is a murder mystery book that has cops, so of course there will be cop lingo. However not everyone knows what these acronyms are or mean. Instead of over explaining useless information the abbreviations should have been explained. Foul language can be avoided; it does not make the character any cooler or smarter.
The great qualities of The 11:05 Murders are: the suspense, the book layout, and the characters. Book layout was excellent it had a beginning, middle and end. Characters were awesome; they fit together and work well together. Their personality’s leapt off the pages and made the book more interesting. Finally the suspense, seeing as this book is a murder mystery there should be mystery. The author keeps the audience guessing until the last possibly second. There was a new shock around every corner which is really great stuff.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The reasoning behind this rating is because of the negative aspects of the book. It is still a really good book and others will enjoy it as much as I did. This book would appeal to those who like books about mysteries, murders or both.
Conclusion, The 11:05 Murders by Brian O’Hare is a murder mystery novel. It has good things and bad things about it. It gets a 3 out of 4 star rating and would attract readers who like suspense, action, mystery and of course murder.
