Review of Exodus

[Following is a volunteer review of "Exodus" by Jean Hackensmith.]
Destruction and uncertainty flood our world in the Exodus. The year is 2023, and the horrifying truth has settled in: it is a solitary neutron star with the name of a prognosticator of destruction, pathing toward Earth. Merely half a century after the crash landing, we are working in combat mode. Project Exodus is a very risky mission into an alien world.
It is us going through an experience similar to the existential crisis through the eyes of Dr. Garrett Long, a globally acclaimed astrophysicist. Long pulls right into the core of the space project, where he can lead the team of engineers entrusted with manufacturing the vessel that will carry people to the stars. The heavy burden of this responsibility accompanies the loud rush of the fears that lurk in the depths.
Jean Hackensmith has the skill of blending scientific facts into the storyline. We pan in as the scientists rush about, make important calculations, and contemplate with unsettled consciences the genesis of this starship. You can practically sense the realistic technical scope of the mission, even just by watching. Although the story mainly apprehends the larger concepts, the author doesn't miss the characterization details. The center of the cast, though not too large as a group, is well depicted. He is depicted as being overwhelmed by his leadership burden and having to make a big compromise to ensure survival. These supporting characters are all fascinating, with their fears and anxieties that make the whole society look exactly like a society that is full of fear.
And the whole tale is incessant. The continuous ticking and the flying minutes create a great air of oppression. The suspense is felt equally by the characters and the reader. This is what makes the story extremely exciting. Will Project Exodus finish before the designated deadline? It's worth 5 out of 5 stars. The editing was great! I didn't have anything to argue against.
