Being promoted as detective and relocated to a new police unit, Denise Stewart, faces challenges in solving a murder case that seems to be tied to an old suicide case. After revealing a corruption case of a detective in Lisburn City Police Station, (her old work location) Denise got promoted and relocated to a new police station in Strandtown, Belfast ‘B’ District. Here, she experiences for the first time team work and also finds friends despite her fears related to new colleagues rejection.
The murder case that she and her team mates are trying to solve, has multiple leads and almost no clues. At some point the case seems lost but a photo of three college boys and the obituary of Lynda Bell rises detective Steward’s suspicions and she starts following this lead. Soon she will discover the tragic destiny of Lynda Bell who committed suicide after a college incident. Detective Steward will soon discover that Lynda has been assaulted during a party in her first college year and died carrying the names of those guilty.
The suspense increases as the leads followed by the team of detectives reveal more shocking facts regarding a case of a woman being abused and almost killed by her husband. The mystery deepens as detective Steward’s friend and coworker Tom Allen gets hurt after two hit and run incidents. The mystery grows as new facts are discovered and the truth about the happenings surrounding Lynda’s assault emerge.
The 11.05 Murders represents a treat for fictional, mystery, thriller and murder amateurs, sees the evolution of the main character, newly promoted detective Denise Steward, while solving a murder case. Being an amateur of police investigation, mystery and thriller genre, I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because it gripped me and kept me turning the pages and I believe that The 1105 Murders would appeal the people interested in this genre. What I most enjoyed at this book was the plot. It’s well structured and surprising because any new information in the murder case captured my interest and kept me guessing the killer’s identity.
I have to admit that the prologue made me a bit confused but as I continued reading I had a better appreciation of the author’s vision. It was a captivating book with lots of suspense and if I can describe the book with one word it will be “ACTION”.
