Lemoncella Cocktail written by Rene Natan would be considered a dramatic thriller. The book starts off with a climatic incident that sets the precedence for the rest of the story. It leads you through the tale of a family in turmoil after one of their daughters witnesses a weapon exchange between arms dealers. This story takes on multiple point of views from the agency attempting to capture said arms dealers to an innocent witness that heroically saved one of the daughters. With constant action and intrigue this book definitely holds your attention
I personally give this book 2 out of 4 stars. Though the book had good character development and the story held you attention, there was an immense amount of grammatical errors. It often made it hard to flow through when there were many missing words or incorrectly phrased statements. A few examples from just the first page are, “he got hold of the struggling person but he took him several minutes to overcome…” and “began leaking her face and her arms”. I would have preferred to give the actual content a higher ranking, these errors continue throughout the book on every page and can be very distracting from the story.
The characters in the story all have a unique personalities and intertwined relationships. I enjoyed seeing them develop and grow. The plot was intriguing and maintained my interest. There was an eclectic array of relationships; including, love stories, tragedy, and family affection. It was not a predictable story and left you to ponder the next steps consistently.
It was a shorter story and could have been extended with further details and plot thickening. There were times where the author bounced from one story/perspective to another so quickly it was hard to delve into each story line before moving to the next. Examples of this would be the hero and his love interest seem to have an instant connection and quickly move from hanging out to discussing marriage. Also, the family that is the primary focus of the plot have very little character development before they are either gone or the focus falls back to just the hero.
Overall, I found Lemoncella-Cocktail to be a good start to a novel. The grammatical errors definitely took away from the book at times and though the shortness of the story kept it moving quickly, I felt there was a lot of room for further growth.
