Raven's Peak is a fictional book that deals with paranormal activities and makes suspense a part of every page you read. If a movie can give you a fright, what more a book can prove otherwise. Lincoln Cole can improve your imagination skills by the way he described the events in his thrilling story.
Imagine a world where everything you came to believe untrue belies every ounce of rationality you came to have known. Haatim Arison just came back in town to find some inspiration to put his life back together, when he was dragged rather abruptly into something he believed was just his yesterday's nightmare. Abigail Dressler is a demon fighter, or a killer, or as a Hunter as she described herself and Haatim knew when she says Hunter, she is not talking about hunting. You know, hunting - the hobby those rich people do when they are dying from boredom. But she is in a quest to stop evil walking the surface of the living. Getting the idea? Killing demons is part of her activities-of-daily-living.
In a journey to Raven's Peak where they should't be together, Haatim found himself discovering a secret society through pounding Abigail questions she should not have answered. But too late for that. She ended up revealing things to him that made his mind screams and his jaw drops. He was thinking if he should believe this gun-armed trespasser and she was wondering if she could trust this jobless fellow.
Honestly, I prefer not reading it during the night. I feel nervous as well for the characters when they are dealing with whatever they are dealing with the demons. Haha! Frighten little puppy that I am. That is a way to keep a reader bound to a story. I praise the author for that. I was scared like Haatim in the book. I like how fast paced the story is. No long, boring, elaborated descriptions that I usually found in other books. The character developments have their smooth transition and event descriptions are utterly eerie. In a way that wants you to continually read the book because you worry these demons will play clever and get the better from your favorite character. If you know what I mean.
This book earns a 4 out of 4 rating from me. A horror book with an occasional humor (I found Haatim's innocence funny.) is a way to welcome new readers to this kind of genre. I highly recommend this for the fact that I totally enjoyed reading it and I came to love the characters. Looking forward to read Book 2: Raven's Fall soon. I don't want my last thought of Haatim and Abigail is their helicopter ride.
