Yesterday is a romantic novel written by Samyann, about a modern day couple that explores their past lives. This novel is a fictional tale about the idea of reincarnation.

Amanda saves the life of a police officer and because of this coincidental meeting finds a man who could possibly be her soul mate. Mark is the police officer who feels like he knows his rescuer somehow. They explore the possibility that they knew each other in a past life by past life regression. When Amanda goes into the regression she learns about her past life as a young girl named Bonnie. Both Bonnie and Amanda lived through terrible tragedies in their respective times. But the question that Amanda keeps asking is whether Mark is any of the people that she sees in her past life.

The main characters in this novel were well rounded and enjoyable. The author had developed some of the secondary characters wonderfully, while others did not get the attention to detail that I thought they deserved. The regression parts of the story started out being very well separated from the rest of the story by a scene where Amanda goes into her trance and then is titled with a date. By the end of the novel, it got a bit confusing to figure out when the story was taking place. The only way to determine whether it was present day or past life was simply dependent on the character names and situations. I would have preferred a more clear separation in some places.

This is a novel that I would recommend to anyone. There is nothing that is majorly unbelievable so readers that do not enjoy science fiction/fantasy will still be able to enjoy it. I do not think that this is a book that spends so much time trying to convince people that reincarnation is real, but rather the author is trying to convince the audience that true love and soul mates is real. Every moment that I spent reading about Amanda and Mark was enjoyable. The author truly led me to believe that they were destined to be together and that their love could span multiple lives. The parallels between their past lives and their current lives made it all the more believable.

I rate this book as 4 out of 4 stars. I thought this book was great for all adult readers. I only caution younger readers that there are some sex scenes that are explicit.
