My Trip to Adele by R.I. Alyaseer and A.J. Alyaseer follows three protagonists as they plan for a trip to see Adele. The characters are from different parts of the world and are suffering from real life issues relating to love. Adele’s songs relate to these issues very well and her lyrics are found throughout the book in just the right moments. Yaser, Elias, and Nadia, the protagonists, explore the ideas of love, religion, freedom, fate, and gender roles. Yaser struggles with a broken marriage, he can’t decide if he chose to marry his wife or if it was fate. He can’t decide if he ever loved his wife before or if it was just lust. Yaser struggles with the idea of religion. Elias fell deeply in love eight years ago, and he has been tortured with the lost love ever since. He struggles with freedom and child prostitution throughout the book. Nadia struggles with freedom from a toxic relationship with her ex-husband. Nadia doesn’t agree with traditional gender roles and has been trying to break free of them for the past eight years. She loves her son unconditionally and struggles between her duties as a mother and her freedom as an independent woman. These characters have something in common, they love Adele and plan to see her live performance in Verona, Italy. They all have obstacles they must overcome to go to the concert.

I give My Trip to Adele by R.I. Alyaseer and A.J. Alyaseer three out of four stars. The book was clearly not professionally edited. There were an outstanding number of grammatical errors and typos. The incorrect past tense of words was used. For instance, instead of using the past tense of learn as “learned” they used “learnt” in the book. Furthermore, several words were misspelled.

The book is a fantastic read, once you get past the grammatical errors. I loved how the authors explore every day issues. I really enjoyed the topic of love. Is love real? What is love exactly? I feel like this is a new outlook on an old topic because they explore much more than what is on the surface of loving someone. They go deeper and explore how far the love you have for someone should go. Should you love someone unconditionally and give them everything you have despite what they give you? Should women wait on their men hand and feet all day every day? Throughout the story lines with Yaser, Elias, and Nadia you will find answers to the questions and more.

What is the price of freedom? Are you free when you are bound by marriage to someone who controls every aspect of your life? The characters in the book struggle with freedom every day. Elias falls in love with a child prostitute. It is a very big issue in the world today. Child slavery and prostitution happens every day. The book touches on the morality of the concept. Gender roles is a big issue that Nadia faces with her ex-husband and her friends’ relationship. The book explores what it means to be free and what gender roles should be, if there should even be gender roles. It also brings up the questions of what a marriage should be. Yaser’s story line explores the issues of marriages and what it should be like. I really like that the book brings up difficult problems like these.

The characters struggle with fate and religion throughout the book. They ask questions about why any creator would treat them so poorly and if they hate free will or if was all preordained. Yaser and Elias ask those questions and explore those possibilities in very different ways. Elias encounters black magic which supposedly messed with his fate. Yaser simply cannot believe in a creator because of his wife. He cannot fathom choosing to marry someone like her, so he thinks it must have been preordained.

I love all the tough issues the book brought to the table and then tried to give solutions to. It brought some issues to my attention I had not thought of before and some I was struggling with myself. It helped me to answer questions I had been asking myself. I only deducted a star because of the grammatical errors made some parts of the book confusing. I really enjoyed reading it and I hope the authors continue to write more books like it.
