Who Told You That You Were Naked?: A Refreshing Reexamination of the Garden of Eden is a great book for those who are looking for a deeper understanding about life and faith.
Evidently, this book gave a detailed explanation of what happened in the Garden of Eden, the story of Adam and Eve. It has been widely heard story from the bible where it sets the beginning of creation. While reading the book, I appreciate how the author examine closely its meaning and its significance by dividing it into a simpler parts, provided his personal interpretation and cited his own personal experiences as well as experiences of other significant people in his life.
From this book, the author more appropriately viewed ‘nakedness’ as separation and alienation with God. This separation is caused by certain actions which is not in accordance to the will of God. Thus, this book encourages us to be mindful as we search for our purpose and meaning in life.
The author also reminded us that God’s love is truly immeasurable and unconditional, that despite our weaknesses, He is willing to embrace us and cover us with his protection. God simply wants us to experience the abundance of life and he has perfect plan for each one of us.
William E. Combs has shared his personal journey towards knowing and finding God in his life. From his book, he may touch lives of people who are in the process of knowing Christ and who are looking for answers about faith and love of God towards humanity.
I found it very helpful that in every chapter, there are thought-provoking study questions which somehow will help the readers to come up with realizations and carefully examine their own lives.
The book also highlights some of the biblical passages that the reader may be able to gain insights and inspire us to live with Christ. These bible verses are really helpful to strengthen one’s faith and will encourage us to see our significance as individual, and realize that each one of us is unique and truly worthy in the eyes of God.
I rate Who Told You That You Were Naked 3 out of 4 stars. It is a well-written discussion about the creation and I have learned from what the author had shared. It is an inspiring book but I would have preferred that the author might have further added individual actual experiences where the readers may relate themselves.
