The Bonding by Imogen Keeper

The story revolves around Nissa and Tam. Nissa, the princess of Triannon whose planet was invaded by aliens. Due to the lack of defenses to fight for their planet, the elders and the king decided to have a lottery to select which among them will have to enter the limited pods and be sent out to space in hopes of finding others to help their planet.

Tam is a warrior of tribe Argentus. While traveling space alone Tam surprisingly finds a pod in which contains Nissa, floating in the infinite space. In opening the pod he soon realize that Nissa had gotten a great illness in which only Tam can give the cure, his serum. This cure can fully heal Nissa but the two of them will be bonded as one. The two of them now face the great challenge in finding the other pods, the rescue of Nissa’s planet and the extinction of Tam’s tribe.

What I like about The bonding is that you can see and feel the struggles and strong feelings of the main characters. The bonding also provided an interesting plot and clever twists that I myself really appreciate. It also didn’t made the main female character a cliché princess. I also love the romance between the two main characters Nissa and Tam, it shows the sacrifices and the imperfections of their relationship.

I would give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. It was written nicely and I didn’t see any errors in typing or grammar. It illustrated the settings of the story very clearly and the flow of the story was smooth and understandable. The vocabulary is vast, some words was challenging but it didn’t made me strain away from the story.

I would recommend this book to those people who has a deep love for sci-fi related stories. In The Bonding you really get the feel of what it would be like in space. It also gives you interesting information on the species that it mentions in the story. It also appeals to those people who love action for it gives exciting fight scenes and detailed information of the kinds of weapons they use. It also appeals to people who love romance for it gives you a great view of the relationship of the main characters, the journey of their relationship , the struggles, the doubt and how it grew.
