Marrying a Playboy Billionaire, by H.M. Irwing, is a somewhat realistic romance that has characters actually acting and reacting how they might in the real world. Sexual tension abounds with growing points and trust issues. It gives a main character that a lot of women might share commonalities with; especially on body image and self-worth. The main man of the story is a very driven individual, who cannot be persuaded from his course, or what he thinks is right; no matter who might be involved.
The story portrays Aira, who is seemingly heartbroken over a failed relationship; that she has to be tormented with at every family function, and relive the sorrow and humiliation. Her now ex-boyfriend would of course, find her blond, leggy and beautiful cousin more acceptable. Leaving Aria body conscious and making drunken choices where she feels a debt must be repaid. Five years pass and she now has the opportunity to repay that debt. She sets up a business meeting with long time childhood family friend, Justin Kay. Built like a Greek god of old; and with a deadline to meet, Justin sets out to make Aira his in every way.
What is the debt to be repaid? Does Aria work through her trust and body issues? Will Justin fully open his heart or will he be barred from her because of his family and hers as well? The biggest question of all, is will they withstand the trials of love? You can read this book to find out.
The hard and still interesting aspect about this book is that I could see the author grow and progress in her writing throughout the telling of the story. At times it was a little distracting, however; it was also a testament to the perseverance of being a story teller. The author had a few spelling and grammatical errors in the beginning and middle of the book but as stated above, she did get better. I do wish the author would have given Justin more of an expanse to his personality; while likeable, he was still rather bland.
I did like that the main characters are relatable and humorous but I didn't feel that it was enough to save this book. I think I was expecting it to be a little more romance and little less of an erotic book. It seemed that the author couldn't decide if the book was a Romance or an Erotica, so just went with a mix of both. The intimate scenes were A LOT and rather brash in nature to the point it felt every chapter had to have an erotic moment and it took away from the full growth of Aira and Justin.
I rate Marrying a Playboy Billionaire by H.M. Irwing, 2 out of 4 stars. I feel a bit more of a depth to the characters and story would have served this book a bit better. It seems the author could have taken this story a lot further but wasn't sure how to balance true romance with detailed intimate scenes. While the whole idea and main events of the book is still interesting and was refreshing in the hopes of the main characters, it felt where the plot had holes was filled with sex scenes. I didn't care for the book as much as it stands right now, but the author does have potential and I think others may possibly like it. I do hope this review helps the author and future readers of this book.
