A Walk Through the Grapes by David Jackson is an engaging narrative where a series of family dramas take center stage. The return of Jace from New York City is met with joy from all family members. His brother hosts a bonfire party to catch up on the good times with their friends. However, the confrontation between Jace and Dane takes a dark turn, resulting in an abrupt end to the celebration. The following day dawns with distressing news of a tragic occurrence involving a father and son, further complicated by Dane's sudden disappearance. A police investigation ensues, layered with unanswered questions, hidden truths, and a lack of substantial leads. The question is: what happened on the night of the bonfire?

Robert's passion for farming offers insights into the world of grape cultivation. This journey allows us to explore the intricacies of cultivating various grape varieties and the elaborate process of transforming them into the exquisite beverage of wine. Robert fully engages his son in this field, while Jace desires to earn his approval and reconcile his past missteps. However, a romantic dilemma involving McKenzie and Ally stands in the way of his efforts. Jace's unresolved history impedes his ability to confront his present circumstances, leaving him besieged by doubt and guilt. His efforts to ascertain the truth not only prove futile but also allow Oliver to execute his schemes. A series of unforeseen events unfolds, promising a gripping narrative that will captivate you to the end!

David thoroughly delves into various themes such as parenthood, sibling bonds, betrayal, romance, and crime. The conflicts and complexities experienced by the Grazer family resonate with most families, making the narrative more interesting. I must praise Robert and Marie for their due diligence in protecting their children, as they exhibit a profound understanding of their offspring's strengths and weaknesses. Among the characters, Marie stands out as my favorite due to her compassionate nature and the ability to diffuse her husband's anger whenever it arises. However, I found the family's decision to keep Jace in the dark disappointing, as it led him to seek the truth independently risking everyone's safety.

I like this book for several reasons. First, the author is an exceptional storyteller with the ability to spice up a twisted plotline into a spellbinding story. Second, the use of dreams compels the reader to concentrate more in an attempt to understand the narrative better. Lastly, each chapter begins with a unique statement that creates the curiosity to read through the entire chapter. However, the main flaw of this book is the presence of chilling scenes like murder. I would recommend the inclusion of a trigger warning, to protect vulnerable readers.

The editing team did well, I encountered no errors while reading. The flaws mentioned above are not enough to deny this book a perfect rating. I hereby rate this book five out of five stars because of the positives mentioned above. I recommend it to lovers of fiction novels.
