Roadmap to the End of Days by Daniel Friedmann is just that, a roadmap showing the way from the beginning of time to the end of time, yet to come. Using eschatology, including showing the parallels between various points in Christian history, Mr. Friedmann takes the reader’s hand and points out many of the signs the reader may not have been able to discern for themself.

While I didn’t necessarily agree with some of the “facts” presented in Roadmap to the End of Days, I did find the book to be a reasonably easy read. The information was given in a straightforward manner, and I never got completely lost. I also loved the usage of Figures, of which there were many; it was great seeing the concepts arranged in such an orderly fashion, and I appreciated the author’s use of such aids. I also really liked the division of sections and bold print for some headings. The Appendices at the end were a great help, as well.

With that being said, I would also like to have had some further clarification on some terms and concepts, such as “sefirah”. Such ideas were given a brief introduction – as well as glossary entry – but not being of Jewish faith, I had to keep referring to the definitions, which took me out of the reading somewhat. I therefore would like to have a bit more information on such words. Also, as just mentioned, not being Jewish, I follow the Bible, rather than the Torah, so while I was able to mostly follow along, some paths went above my head. I realize the book’s focus is on the end times, but I still think a Preface of some sort, that more thoroughly delves into such concepts, would help immensely. A companion book, to be read beforehand, may also be a good idea.

As mentioned in my second paragraph, I didn’t fully agree with some of the ideas that the author takes for granted. For instance, Mr. Friedmann notes that “The six Days of Creation can be shown to correspond to about 13.74 billion years” with “one Creation day being about 2.5 billion years”. I don’t personally follow this viewpoint and since these “facts” form the basis for much of the book, I had to take much of what I read with a grain of salt. Still, my disagreement was not insurmountable, so I was still able to understand the math involved, and I found myself nodding my head a lot.

Even with the differences in opinion, I give Roadmap to the End of Days 4 out of 4 stars. The author obviously spent a lot of time researching things and was able to communicate a lot of concepts in an easy manner. I also actually greatly enjoyed learning a different viewpoint, as I’m open-minded and love to hear other points-of-view, so in a way, my differing views were actually a positive; I was presented with things I’d never heard before and was able to expand my knowledge, if only in how other people or groups think.

I would definitely recommend this book for persons of all faiths. The information given and the actual “roadmap” make for an interesting ride and give one food-for-thought. In fact, I’m quite open to seconds and look forward to reading more by Mr. Friedmann.

I find your review very refreshing. The importance of having an open mind when being exposed to the views of others is of the utmost importance. I can see where you're coming from when suggesting a companion book or Preface. Sometimes, in order to attract a wider audience, the author should provide a bit more background. Thank you for sharing!

From this review, Daniel Friedman's Roadmap to the End of Days appears fascinating. It will be interesting to read the book and examine how he arrived at his conclusion.

I am glad you had an open mind while reading. Though I haven't read the book, and I'm not sure I'll agree to everything in the book but In psalm 90 v. 4, the Bible does say a thousand years is like a day in GOD'S sight. Thanks for the great review, I look forward to reading it too.

Thanks for your interesting review. And although you differed in opinion to that of the book, you still mustered enough patience to bear until the end. This book may be one of the many that prophesied the end. And mostly, the authorship is attributed to one who could read the signs of the times, e.g., a seer, a visionary, or a prophet. We may argue, but the truth will only be known when the time comes when nothing will matter anymore.
