3 out of 4 stars

The book breaking sandcastles is a romantic fiction story of Marion who is 9years older than Jonathan, it was love at first sight and despite their age differences they complement each other greatly with Marion exposing Jonathan to adulthood without necessarily killing his youthful enthusiasm while Jonathan made Marion understand there was more to life by getting in touch with her inner child.
The story does not only expose the reader to the adventures of both parties but also to a great love story that does not only make the reader want to know more but also understand age is indeed a number. And that just because it doesn't make sense to others doesn't mean it's wrong, it also emphasizes on how little the society really cares about things we think would definitely cause a stir.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars, it was properly edited and the story line was interesting and not your normal cliched romantic story about love that immediately blossomed. It was a mixture of flash backs and details of current situations which at some point got annoying, though it is well understood that, the story was meant to be that way. It got a bit annoying at some point because sometimes the reader just wants to know what happened next instead of a reminisce of the good times before. The ending was really great, and well appreciated as one would have stifled a yawn, if it actually ended any other way, since majority of love stories would have seen the remaining partner end tragically because of the lack of zeal to continue without the other, but I will definitely recommend this because it portrays love as being happy but not necessarily with the presence of another person to make that happen.
If you love a good and more realistic romance stories this is definitely for you. As the writer expresses herself in such a way the reader feels the emotions of the characters and thus for readers who get emotionally involved with characters in their books, you get to laugh when it's funny and cry when it's sad and heart breaking.
However for those who are conservative in opinion, this will definitely conflict with your interest. Because the circumstances of their meeting was that which will raise an eyebrow in most societies where such is totally forbidden and also their adventures really gives details of cultures and practices some people might consider too explicit or inappropriate.
