Hello, My Love by Evy Journey took us into the life of a young woman who has a strong mind, strong will and who is determined to create an extraordinary future for herself. She is smart, affectionate and passionate about the needs of the marginalized. She makes wise decisions and has always made her family proud of her. As the story progresses, the young woman who has always had a clear vision of what she will do to get where she would like to be, encounters a crossroad where doubt, insecurity, and pride creeps into the fore. She must determine whether to follow her heart or her mind. When she does chose, she is surprised and humbled by the response she receives from the people around her whom she trusts the most.
I thought the title of the book was impressively catchy, and that it communicated exactly what was delivered in the book. I liked that the writer gave a prolonged scope of the journey that the lead character went through. The female lead was lovable and really undeserving of anything bad happening in her life. We had a truly roller coaster experience where just when you hope the book would end on a high note, we are plunged into the deep abyss of sadness and sorrow. We discover the true strength of human kind and learn that misfortunes can happen to the best of us at anytime.
There was one grey area in the book, where the writer does attempt to resolve a subplot but it was not clear to the reader that it was resolved. All throughout the rest of the book, I was left with the impression that there would be one more paragraph confirming how the subplot is resolved. The writer also had some editing mistakes such as open quotes that were inverted on pages 13, 42, 52, 59 and others.
This book would have great appeal to readers of both genders since we encounter male and female characters that are charming, loving and passionate, with personalities and flaws to which we can relate. On the other hand, for those who are seeking a more surreal and less realistic recount of a young female’s journey to love, you may not find much appeal from this book.
I rate Hello, My Love by Evy Journey with 2 out of 4 stars. If I could add half stars, I would make my rating two and a half stars. The novel is captivating enough to satiate any reader’s appetite. The plots are sound and realistic. The main plot and the subplots are married together relatively well. There were however moments where all we receive is information and nothing really happens.
