My Trip to Adele is a story about an Adele concert which becomes a centric event in the life of three different people living in different cities in the world. All of them have their own reasons to attend the concert, some for finding their long lost love, some for securing freedom, some for saving their marriage. These three characters are on a journey to break free of everything that has haunted them, while learning harsh truths about fate, religion, courage, desire and guilt along the way.

"Music is life", the authors of this book have taken this quote pretty seriously. The authors epitomized the stories in every chapter with some heartfelt lyrics of Adele’s own songs which is a unique approach to show their love for the singer which was pretty impressive for me.

This book contains description of three different characters living entirely different lives in different cities They all are connected through their love for Adele and their desire to see her perform live in Vernon.

The stories of the characters are written alternately. Elias finding his long lost love in the red city alleys of Marrakesh, Morocco by dealing with the society to find his lost love. A hope that his search will end at Adele’s concert, will he?

Nadia a strong, independent single mother living with her only reason to live, her son in the city Amman, Jordan. The great problems she had to face to have her son in her life, to stand by her rights, to support the truth and most importantly escaping from an abusive marriage in a male dominant community. Her struggle to take her son to see his idol, Adele, perform live. A women fighting for her rights by going against her own family rituals, depicted in the book seemed more realistic than fictional.

Yaser is a successful surgeon in Las Vegas but, a failure in his personal life. Living a frozen marriage life with his rebellious wife. His only driving factor in the marriage being his children. The struggle of the couple to keep their marriage is shown in a very detailed manner which was noteworthy. And the Adele’s concert seems like the one last try to salvage their relationship.

The cities mentioned in the book and the cultures that lives in the cities are thoroughly studied. The authors also throws light on the concept of prostitution, its dark side of the business. The rituals like their daily chores, weddings, society’s thinking and a role of a woman in a man’s life as a lover, wife, mother are carefully deliberated.

Talking about the loopholes ,Elias’s story was confusing and did not have a satisfactory ending and i felt the black magic portion was unnecessary. If not an Adele fan you may find the lyrics unexciting and you may find yourself skipping those lyrics part in later chapters.

Summing it up, get a hold of this book to relive the magic of Adele’s song. Though it’s not a happily-ever-after story, but it provides a kind of sense of end to their journey . I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.
