This is an awesome read for romance and adventure lovers! It’s both fast and slow paced at just the right times, with a perfect mix of action and emotion. The plot is based in the Middle East with current stressors being well displayed and explained in the text. Tensions are very high in “Escape”!

A young American woman, Layla, faces death or worse after her visit to Dubai goes completely wrong. She begins as a sheltered girl however, soon enough, she is on everyone’s radar as a prime bargaining tool for nuclear power between Iran and Israel. She must learn to find her own strength as well as the necessary endurance to gain back her independence.

Cyrus is her complete opposite. He’s the epitome of a man in a man’s world. He’s older, worldly and lethal in all things. As a reader, it’s scary to trust such a shadowed background. Will Layla be able to learn to trust him? Will she be able to follow Cyrus and save more than just themselves? And will Cyrus be able to change his ways, to remove the shackles of his past life to become the man that Layla needs?

I wasn’t a fan of how fast Layla leaned towards the thought of loving Cyrus. It was a little bit unbelievable but the author, Belle Ami, saved that by mentioning Stockholm’s Syndrome – the act of a captive having loving, protective and defensive emotions for their captor. I most loved the ending of this book. Without giving anything away, I enjoyed the way both characters grew towards the end. It was almost as if all the characters in the book stayed mostly static until the ending began. After that point their true dynamics came out and added even more flavor to this page turner!

I would give “Escape” by Belle Ami 3 out of 4 stars. I gave this book 3 stars because I feel like it could use a bit more explanation into the turmoil that is the Middle East. As well, it could use some more background into the culture of the Iranians so that the readers can get a better feel for the backdrop and extremely narrow escape. However, for the most part – I feel like this was a very good read. I did not put it down until I had finished it. I loved that a romance novel took on the often-unused Middle East backdrop. That change of pace is what really roped me in from the beginning.

Daring, tense, a little funny and super sexy – this is a great read!
