This is a review for Followed My Star by AR Annahita, the book advocates for fair opportunity to everyone regardless of their race, past, present and future. According to the writer, his home country Iran was used to define who he is and the reactions he received form other people especially the Americans. This category he was put in denied him an opportunity to be recognised for his individuality. That is insane right? If we all take part we can make the world better place for all of us, refuse to make other fellow humans inferior, think of the conversation and lessons missed, he than refers to his childhood, which was a happy place for him, he remembers all children playing together and the colour of their skin has no impact on the relationships around them.
The writer expresses displeasure towards people who shift blame, who would rather blame their suffering and political unfairness on religion. He continues to state how our desires and ambitions have stolen our peace, his advise is to let go of everything we have no control over. AR Annahita believes every one should focus on who they are, what makes them happy and successful, societal pressures are a result of why a lot of people are unhappy and not appreciative about their own progress in lives.
This book is a perfect read for people who are finding themselves, it is a good guide of what should influence your character and what should not. Annahita speaks of the importance of faith, why the challenges in life are necessary, the balance in the universe that we all need to find and that every goal is achievable even though it might not be easy. Reading this book caught me at a time where i was unhappy by my lack of progress, both financially and career wise, henceforth it was an aid to making burden free decisions. In the first chapter the author speaks of how we put so much energy on struggles ,fights and desires, which I relate to very well, now its time to let go of what we cant control and release ourselves from our own misery. I found myself on a quest to release everything and be blank and experience the happiness explained, only two things necessary God and me as an empty vessel.
However i did not enjoy chapter 3, it talks about Americans praising their freedom and whether it is different from freedoms of other countries. As much as people react to different to similiar situations, it also applies to countries. How Americans praise their freedom does not take away anything from other countries. Maybe i failed to understand the writer'point of view in this regard. Overall Followed My Star carries great content for personal development, as the author shares his life experiences which made him to advocate for better place where the is no racism.
This reviewer rate the book 3 out of 4 because: the sentences/paragraphs are not aligned henceforth the book is not presentable, there is a need for more punctuations in the text, it has several grammatical errors e.g 'think' written as 'thing', and repetition of the same words in most chapters resulting in monotony e.g the use of 'you' in chapter two. The writer could have used better connecting words, and lastly i felt the book was confusing, at some point the author praised religion then later criticizes laws and regulation made on the basis of religion.
