The Elf Archive by Jordan David is the second book in the Magi Charter Series. The new Santa takes some elves on a trip to the Hawaiin Islands to do some surfing. In order to do this, Santa is accompanied by the NP1 Elf Team. The NP1 Elf Team's job is to patroll the beach and forest to ensure everyone reamins safe. The island does not consist of a lot of people. This makes it easier on Santa and the elves to enjoy their time on the island. Noel is the first elf Santa taught to surf. A lady named Kiki Kailikea is a proprietress of a bed and breakfast, along with a small restaraunt. Santa and the elves enjoy their time with Kiki as she does not get nosy asking too many questions. This makes it more relaxing for everyone. The eleves did give out their elfin names, but Santa decided to tell his nickname. The elves can hide their ears, but surfing makes it difficult. The only time the elves would lose their pointed ears is when they used the portal to travel to the human world.
When Santa and the elves returned to the North Pole, Noel continued on his new job as the head of the new Historical Department. This requires Noel to work on creating space for the expansion of his book collection which he had to put on hold because of being under construction. Then Noel started to work on finding the library that was sealed up years ago. A request was made by a chef to find a recipe book. The only way Noel could do that is to find the library. The library was sealed to be hidden, making it difficult for anyone to try to find it. Anyone that did have information on the libaray was not giving any leads to Noel. Even though no one wanted the library to be found, Santa encouraged Noel to continue his hunt for the library. Santa felt it would benefit the factory to have the library found again.
Santa also instituted a new program called The Husbandry Department. This department allowed elves to volunteer to train in two different department's of their choice. If the elf showed potential skill and enjoyed work, it could mean being added on to a waiting list to transfer to that department full time. Noel's best friend Spice's jumped to the opportunity to be first in line to sign up for the Husbandry Department because he always wanted to fly the reindeer. In the meantime, Noel and Spice's partnered up to fly the reindeer in the Reindeer Games. The Reindeer Games are a big event that are held every year. This will give Spice's an opportunity for some more practice time.
One day, Santa announced he wanted to get married. Santa was arranged dates with different women that were not of his chosing. The elf, White Christmas would chose the dates Santa would go on with very specific instructions to what to expect. Santa was also told what to wear and the event he would be attending. The dates Santa attended were funny. I found myself laughing while reading about them, but at the same time feeling sorry for what Santa had to go through. After awhile, Santa gets discouraged.
In the mean time, Noel continues to try to find the library. Betwen Santa wanting to get married and Noel trying to find the library, this is causing some chaos in the factory. Can Noel accomplish his task of finding the library so it will be able to better the factory? Will Santa find the women of his dreams?
I really enjoyed the first book, but the second book is even better. The author did a good job adding more activities to keep the story intersting. As I said earlier, the dates were funny and I found myself laughing. That does not happen very often reading a book. I liked the fact there was humor, some bad guys, and a little bit of romance to mix it all up.
I was disappointed to find some mistakes in the book. There were some words missing or not spelled correctly. It didn't happen that often, but it happened enough that I found myself really focusing to see where the next mistake would be.
Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I would love to rate this book a four because I really enjoy the series, but because the mistakes were enough for me to get distracted I am going to stick with giving it a three. I still highly recommend this book to all ages. I am looking forward to see what new adventures book three will have to offer.
