Raven's Peak, World on Fire, Book 1 by Lincoln Cole is a must read. It falls under the genre C/T/M/H; Crime, Thrillers, Mystery and Horror. I must admit, this book is not for the feint hearted or for underaged children.

The plot was carefully thought out. Every page kept me on the edge of my seat. Lincoln Cole obviously did his research while composing this novel. The demon names used and the chaos they caused were on point based on theological history.

A fight for survival. Abigail a demon hunter, is rescued by her mentor; Arthur, a priest who was imprisoned by his own 'adopted daughter' having killed persons she thought he didn't have to. Faced with a similar situation Abigail has to decide whether to allow an entire town to be destroyed or try to save it and possibly die trying. To succeed she must face the demons from her past, both figuratively and literally.

We are introduced to Haatim, so naive, so innocent. His life was shattered to pieces in just one day. His parents kept him sheltered from the dangers of life that he may one day face. However, like many parents keen on protecting their children, they prepared him in such a way that he wasn't aware of the lessons or their value. Although he was afraid, he took on great battles head on, saving Abigail and others.

A council made up of Ministers from all over the world, oversea the activities of the hunters and monitor demonic activities. Abigail, in spite of the council's mistrust in her, goes against their instructions and continuously save Haatim's life and those of others. Having been saved by Arthur twice, she finds herself determined to return the favour no matter the cost. In her quest, she uncovers vital information about one of the council members. She finds herself in a position wondering who to trust.

The themes crime, thriller, mystery and horror are consistent throughout the novel, none overpowering the other. The only problem was that Haatim was made out to be completely clueless in relation to violence. He could have at least been comfortable with holding and firing a gun or punching someone in the face to make the story line fluffy and more enjoyable.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 . The novel was properly edited as I did not come across any errors. The plot was well put together and properly researched. The ending made me yearn for book two to find out what happens next. I would recommend this book to all strong hearted  persons over the age of consent.

I like your last sentence, Leyla. I am way past the age of consent and I do not have cardiovascular disease (not yet, anyway) so I am eligible to read this book haha.

I totally enjoyed your review. Hope to read more from you.
