Dive with me into a unique blend of history and sci-fi with "Sent to Watch." All history buffs and sci-fi lovers should rejoice! "Sent to Watch" by David J. Lebenstein offers a captivating adventure that merges the intrigue of aliens with the rich tapestry of Earth's post-Napoleonic era. So grab your copy and embark on a thrilling expedition into space, intertwined with the fascinating realities of Earth's history!

This book tells the story of undercover agents who represent a consortium of interplanetary intelligence services that track the progress and development of 52 Earths. The story highlights one agent, Svavapas, who was assigned to England under the alias of a heroic teacher. He works in tandem with another undercover agent, Vlaytork, whom he develops romantic feelings for against the policy of the confederation, but finds himself in the situation of a love triangle.

This novel's narrative allows readers to experience history through the eyes of undercover aliens tasked with observing humanity's development. Also, with its truly immersive setting, we see how the author meticulously recreates the complexities of the Regency period, from political struggles to the lives of both royalty and the common people. It’s highly educational as well as entertaining, because not only will you be entertained, but you'll gain insights into diverse topics like American history, classical music, and the German unification movement. The inclusion of physics calculations adds a layer of realism to the alien technology, making their presence all the more believable. These aforementioned observations are not just what I loved but also what make this book a must-read.

I can say the book is without flaws; in my opinion, the overall experience is highly rewarding. The book is impeccably edited, ensuring readers a smooth reading experience. For the aforementioned reasons, I’d rate "Sent to Watch" by David J. Lebenstein a 5 out of 5 star read.
