In The Angel of Death Origins: OCD, Bullying, and Questioning Reality, Laurent Cousineau draws us into a world that reflects his real-life battles. He openly discusses his hardships, including the bullying and harsh treatment he endured while in high school, which left deep emotional wounds and led to depression and anxiety. Laurent Cousineau’s book takes readers on a poignant and touching journey, allowing us to witness his unwavering determination as he confronts and skillfully manages the formidable challenges life throws his way.

The book unfolds through a series of sincere snapshots. He bravely confronts a host of personal challenges, including battling OCD, complex PTSD, and coping with his father's serious illness. At school, Laurent is the target of intense and unyielding bullying, facing hostility from classmates and teachers alike. Remarkably, he manages to shine in his academic pursuits despite these adversities. The author draws parallels between Laurent's tale and his own encounters with bullying, offering a glimpse into his own life's trials.

The book's vivid recounting of life's obstacles, mirroring the author's personal journey, was the part I connected with and liked the most. It provides an intimate look into the lives of those wrestling with obsessive-compulsive disorder and life's big questions, building a bridge of empathy and insight for those in similar situations. The author's homage to his mother's steadfast support amidst his battles with OCD highlights the incredible strength found in love and family ties. I found nothing to critique in this book; it was flawlessly edited.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars for its exceptional writing and lack of errors. However, prospective readers should note that the book portrays scenes of violence, uses explicit language, touches on sexual themes, and expresses progressive political views. It is recommended for a discerning and broad-minded audience.
