While I was unprepared for a book of such character depth in a fantasy novel, I was equally unprepared to enjoy it to such a great extent!

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is an exciting new journey into a world filled with complex characters and a land filled with multifaceted magic. It crosses over into the realm of fantasy without losing reality. All the characters are introduced carefully to ensure the reader fully understands who they are and where they fit within the story without overwhelming or confusing the reader with too much information, all the while weaving a story that truly paints a picture in the reader’s mind.

The book begins with the introduction of an outsider to Voulhire, Galen, who is swept into the kingdom of Voulhire by a stroke of good fortune. His travels through the land looking for suitable material for his new-found trade as a blacksmith allow the introduction of new characters and cities and their notable characters such as Meldorath, a mage of mysterious and fabled power and his benefactor, King Wilhelm. While there are differences between cities and factions, they are woven into the story in such a way as to be easy to follow.
The author has a superior ability to draw the reader in by masterful prose and detail that truly makes it possible for the reader to “see” the world in which they are immersed. Not only was I unable to easily put the book down but I am left eager for more and I look forward to continuing the saga.

I don’t believe there is anything I would change about this book, and I have no suggestions for making it better. The author provides an alphabetized Reference Guide that is thorough and helpful for lapses of memory mid-story.

Profanity is limited to minor instances and sexual content is not overt; however, there are topics such as pedophilia and obvious sexual innuendos that may make some readers uncomfortable and limit reading suitability to a mature audience.

Regarding grammatical errors or typos, I was unable to find even one and would happily rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
