Lemoncellar Cocktail by Rene Nathan is a Fiction novel about a young man named Patrick Carter who lives in the Canadian province of Ontario. Patrick is a young man who upon growing up and struggling to overcome the effects a childhood trauma had on him, becomes caught up in a difficult situation of finding out his directions in life but this situation takes a different dimension when Patrick deploys his special talent to rescue a child named Samantha from danger. He becomes attached to the family of Samantha after the rescue. This closeness to a family gives Patrick a sense of family love and care which had eluded him since childhood, however Patrick continues to grapple with the shadows of his childhood trauma and hopes to step out of these shadows from unexpected source.

The plot of Lemoncellar Cocktail unfolds around Patrick. He keeps finding himself in different and most times scary challenges. He derives the push to confront every challenge from his sense of family love and care which he cherishes as a result of his emotional attachment to the family of Samantha, one of the persons he rescued. The plot of the book develops at fast and consistent pace with every situation coming with its twists and turns. The role of Patrick Carter in the novel promotes the theme of love, humanity and sacrifice which makes it relatable to daily life lessons.

The characterization of Lemoncellar Cocktail is direct and relatable. The major character Patrick is involved in most actions.Justin and his grand mother, Jessica are other consequential characters in the book. The author's choice of fewer characters and use of omniscient narrative style made the comprehension of the story easier and more direct. The restricted characterization style employed by the author also helps to project the various themes of the novel in a representative style.

Lemoncellar Cocktail also has a tone of subtle romance . However, the romantic tone of the novel is unplanned ,disjointed and cannot convey a direct or important romance message.I don't think the novel qualifies as a work in the romance category.

The book's biggest undoing is poor editing.Pages of the story are replete with instances of poor grammatical arrangements. This is a novel I will like to rate high based on the plot, characterization and narrative style but the editorial errors are obvious.I rate this novel 2 out of 4 stars.

Overall, I enjoyed the novel. The climax answered the questions that may agitate the reader's mind.
