[Following is a volunteer review of "Soul Seeker" by Kaylin McFarren.]
Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren is a captivating fictional narrative that delves into the realm of supernatural beings from various dimensions and their interactions with humanity. The story begins with the tragic tale of Poe Benjamin, a man whose life is filled with sorrow, leading to his imprisonment and awaiting execution by lethal injection. Poe is manipulated by a soul reaper named Crighton into committing a crime against his will. As the story progresses, the focus shifts to Crighton, exploring his relationships and the underworld. Crighton’s mission is to harvest souls for his master, Lucifer, but unlike other demons, he forms an unprecedented bond with an angel, leading to a unique soul connection.
The supernatural entities come to Earth in human form to fulfill their missions. The book introduces a hierarchy of angels with varying levels of strength and power. It paints a world with multiple dimensions where beings travel in unconventional ways. Despite their celestial nature, these beings are mortal and can be killed. The book also weaves in romance among these supernatural characters, showcasing the author’s imaginative prowess.
What I found most compelling about the book was the character Crighton. Initially perceived as the antagonist, his role quickly intrigued me. His loyalty to his mother added depth to his character, making him my favorite.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and found nothing to dislike about it. One of the valuable lessons I gleaned from the story is that evil deeds are eventually punished, regardless of how long it takes. Another important takeaway is the notion that those perceived as evil are sometimes capable of great goodness. The author's writing style is clear and engaging, making the book easy to follow, and the editing is superb.
Given the book's profound lessons and engaging characters, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend Soul Seeker to fans of fiction involving celestial beings, good versus evil themes, and narratives about love and soulmates. It's an enthralling and action-packed read.
