Do you get overwhelmed when things don't go your way? Have you ever prayed and believed God was not answering your requests or wondered about your purpose? O.K. "Speedy" Johnson's book The Move: The Long Journey Home tells the story of a Christian or believer going through times of difficulty or testing to see where their trust is. The tale centers around the author and his spouse, Patti, as they narrate their individual experiences of developing a personal faith in God.
"In the walk of faith, it is easy to say, 'I believe,'" the author writes. Saying, "I not only believe, but I am willing to demonstrate it by following what God has spoken," is far more difficult." "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen," according to Hebrews 11:1. We have a tendency to want to hurry the moments and events, forgetting that God works according to His schedule and that we should not lose faith in Him. God's thoughts are not the thoughts or plans of man.
The life of a Christian is perfectly embodied in Speedy and Patti's narrative. We occasionally want things to go the way we want them to, but that is not what God desires from us. Because God understands our hearts, He grants our wishes, and He provides for our necessities, we should involve Him in every step of the process. The epitome of outstanding Christians, Patti and Speedy, nearly lost their truck because they occasionally neglected to include God in their plans, and they ultimately paid a price for their failure.
All of this taught me that a Christian has a big obligation to be eager to hear from God and that having the gift of discernment will help you recognize which spirit is of God since we are engaged in spiritual combat with the devil, who is never pleased when God's people prevail. God communicates with us through His word, creation, prayer, other people—especially in small groups—and animals, as demonstrated by the tale of Balam.
God knows exactly what we need, so He will always provide it to us in ample amounts. Additionally, don't be a recluse as a Christian; you will receive assistance in proportion to your efforts. God's purpose is to simply deliver us significant individuals who He knows we will need at some point in our lives. Last but not least, let go of the past because it is beyond our control and there is no benefit in focusing on it. Likewise, pray without stopping, and never forget that God always fulfills His promises and uses all means necessary to bring about His will.
I really liked this read because of the author's excellent writing style and the way he emphasizes transformation through the use of biblical quotations and personal experiences. Even if my experiences weren't as severe as Patti's and Speedy's, I could still relate to most of the stories, so I'm glad I read the book. It was proofread by a professional, and all spelling and punctuation errors were fixed. For the reasons listed above, I will thus give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
To sum up, I would like to suggest this book to both new converts and everybody who desires a closer relationship with God. Reading a book like this is the first step in feeding one's spiritual needs on this excursion, which should be done almost daily. It will open the eyes of even Christians who have turned away from God. Best wishes on your journey to self-discovery.
