Sent to Watch by David J. Lebenstein is a sci-fi book that follows the story of multiple worlds or universes in an interstellar exploration of 18th-century England during the Napoleonic Wars. In this universe, made up of multiple "Earths" numbering about 51, Earth 48 seeks safety from the Confederation of Civilized Planets, with the ruling system or headquarters located on Earth 1 for the purpose of defense and other benefits attached to being part of the system. Undercover agents Svavapas and Vlaytork play crucial roles in observing the people of Earth 48 because of the people's uniqueness. They eventually develop feelings for each other, which are forbidden by the agency. Find out how things unfold for these agents as they carry out their mission on Eath 48.

Lebenstein skillfully incorporates themes like historical parallels, including technological advancements and events like the Battle of Waterloo. Ori and Unni had previously done other undercover duties on other Earths before their assignment to Earth 48. I loved how captivating and unique this story was and how it captured the possibility of life in other worlds.

I couldn't find anything to dislike about this book, but I had quite a struggle trying to get used to the names used when I began reading it. The glossary included was also very beneficial in understanding some of the strange terms used to add originality to the story. I couldn't find a single grammatical error while reading through this book; hence, it was exceptionally edited.

I will rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the reasons mentioned above. Beyond the impressive storytelling and tale, the book captures key elements that play out even in our world today. These elements include politics and religion. The format of the book is also very commendable. I recommend this book to readers who love sci-fi books that are filled with creativity and a touch of real-life events or occurrences. This book can be enjoyed by a wide range of audiences due to the absence of sexually provocative and profane scenes.
