Review of First Survivor

Reading a memoir for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect. The author's writing style immediately drew me into the story, making me feel like a part of the family’s journey. This immersive experience brought forth a lot of emotions. I felt stressed and anxious, not knowing whether Louis's condition would improve or worsen. The uncertainty was palpable, and it kept me on edge throughout the narrative.
I couldn't help but empathize deeply with Louis's older brother. It was heart-wrenching to see him left without his parents for extended periods of time, a situation he certainly didn't deserve. At the same time, I understood the parents' tribulation. Their determination to do everything possible to cure their son was both admirable and heartbreaking. This duality of emotions—sadness for the brother and anxious empathy for the parents—made the story profoundly moving. I often found myself imagining how I would cope in their shoes, which intensified my connection to the narrative.
