[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
Tom and Kelly are on their honeymoon in Honduras. While Tom is out on a boat, Kelly decides to shop for a gift for her nephew. At the store, she finds more than just candy and toys; the United States is in danger! What will become of their honeymoon? What is the significance of all these computers?
"E M P Honeymoon" is a gripping novel that offers a disturbing glimpse into plausible scenarios. The characters are realistically portrayed, enhancing the sense of an imminent threat to our world. Dorothy May Mercer vividly brings the terrorist conspiracy to life, keeping the reader engaged until the final page. The well-crafted plot leaves the reader in suspense about whether disaster will ensue.
However, I was disappointed with the abrupt ending. After following the detailed process and problem discovery with the characters, I expected a thorough resolution to such a serious issue. Instead, the book ends with a brief summary of how the problem was resolved, which felt insufficient. The book was nothing like the title described, and the book cover did not even leave a hint to readers as to what to expect. This is something I didn't like at all, and I would be taking off two stars because of the problems I encountered. I wish the author talked more about the romantic lives of the couple, because that was what prompted me to pick up this book and start reading. The action was good, but I also wanted to see a lot of romance, which unfortunately didn't happen.
Understanding the importance of loyalty to your country is crucial. This book taught me that declaring patriotism and demonstrating it are two different things. I recommend it to fans of romantic suspense. The book was professionally edited, with no errors spotted, so I am giving it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars because of the problem I encountered.
