Binnie and the Glitter Guitar by Michael Wuehler

This entertaining and inspiring children's book is set around a golden glitter guitar and follows the story of Quinn, a young girl who aspires to become a rock star. Quinn, also known as Binnie, loves to daydream a lot. The story begins with Quinn daydreaming in her advanced math class, which she had gotten into with a lot of hard work. She vividly dreams of becoming a rock star and holding her own concert. Her mind continues to wander even after gentle warnings from her teacher. Later, when she goes to the music shop, she is attracted to a glittering golden guitar. Enthralled by its beauty, she desires to possess it. When she discovers it is the prize for a competition where one must create an original song and perform it, she decides to enter the contest and puts in a lot of effort to win it. In the meantime, a new girl, Lian, comes to her class. Both Quinn and Lian live in the same neighborhood and play on the same soccer team. Lian is a math wizard and plays classical guitar very well. Shared by their guitar passion, they quickly develop a friendship and have a great time together. When Quinn discovers that Lian has also joined the competition, she gets scared that she might not win the prize. Aware of Lian's talent, she diligently practices to win the guitar. What will happen on the day of the competition? Will Quinn emerge victorious and win the guitar, or will Lian claim the prize? Read the book to find out more.

I thoroughly enjoyed Quinn's adorable family, and the amusing banter between the siblings was captivating. The colorful and vibrant illustrations were charming, and the emotional ending took me by surprise. I believe this story will motivate children to reach for the stars and pursue their dreams. While highlighting the importance of family, the book conveys a crucial message that emphasizes the value of people and their joy over material possessions.

I don't play guitar, but as a music lover, I really enjoyed the guitar-playing scenes, especially the last one. I appreciated Mrs. John's treatment of Quinn and found the skunk-chasing scene quite amusing. It was also interesting to learn about the origin of the name Binnie. I was intrigued to learn that this book is part of the Proud Papa series, and there are other books featuring characters like Gracie and Alice, who are Quinn's sisters. I can't wait to read about them.

I found two errors. Other than that, the editing is incredible. I noticed a few repetitions in some places, such as Quinn rolling her eyes and the kids scoring goals in the soccer game, but they didn't detract from my enjoyment of the reading. It was a quick read, and I loved it, especially the ending. I didn't dislike anything in this book. So, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars

I think Quinn will win. Lian may be very talented, but Quinn's willingness to win the guitar is more powerful.
Thanks for the review.

Your review highlights a special children's book. Daydreaming is an important part of life. I personally have received inspiration from daydreaming. Playing guitar is an amazing skill that adds joy to one's life. Competitions that encourage creativity are so important for children. The importance of family is something kids need to know. The family is their security net. This book gives children the opportunity to explore these values. Thank you for this well-written, informative review.
