Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Play Golf Better Faster Handbook: The Little Golf Bag Book for Big Results Fast by Kalliope Barlis is an incredibly helpful and practical guide for anyone looking to improve their golf game. The author was introduced to the sport at a young age under the guidance of Chuck Hogan, her then-coach. She skillfully blends those learnings with the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques suggested by Dr. Richard Bandler to offer valuable insights into training the mind to enhance golf performance. The book provides a concise and easily portable resource that golfers can carry in their bags.
Kalliope begins by guiding readers on how to use the book to get the most out of it. She recommends scanning or reading the book daily for 21 days and keeping it handy in the golf bag for quick reference and inspiration. She stresses the importance of cultivating a positive mindset throughout the book.
The reader can sense the potential of this technique as she helps to focus on optimum learning from each shot. She assists the reader in training the mind to see, feel, hear, smell, and taste to hold on to desirable memories and distance or shrink the bad ones. She assures us that we all possess the skills needed to be great golfers, and it is only a matter of conditioning the mind. She thus encourages and inspires, which aids in better performance.
The book presents the skill enhancement activities indicated by coach Chuck Hogan and the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques suggested by Dr. Richard Bandler in simple and practical steps. This aspect, coupled with the author's twenty-year experience as a golf coach, adds credibility to the book.
Her methods help to ensure a positive outcome from the physical skills by deploying one's mental preparedness to deal with all aspects of the golf course. I admire how her technique helps to focus and enhance what is important. Her suggestion about acknowledging when something goes wrong, understanding why it went wrong, and making the necessary adjustments to correct it is crucial to learning and aiding positive outcomes in the future. Learning from our mistakes is as consequential and important as reliving and enhancing all the moments that went right. The author demonstrates that by following the steps, one can strike the right balance between the physical and mental aspects of the game, thus ensuring success at a faster rate.
While reading the book, I noticed a few minor errors. I commend the editors and suggest a re-edit to delight the readers with an error-free book. The errors do not detract from the reading experience. I recommend this book to readers who have a basic understanding of the game or those who have read the predecessor, Play Golf Better Faster, which provides an in-depth overview of the subject. These aspects do not call for reduced ratings. With nothing negative to highlight about the book, I rate this book five out of five stars. The insightful approach to golf improvement, simple language devoid of technical jargon, and integration of traditional and contemporary techniques make it resourceful for aspiring golf enthusiasts.

I read this book and as a result I am a fan of Neuro-Linguistic programming. It is important to train the mind to shrink the visions of negative outcomes. This certainly helps my game on the golf course.Seetha E wrote: ↑17 Jul 2024, 04:38 [Following is a volunteer review of "Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book" by Kalliope Barlis.]
