Ruth was the wife of Frederick David Nachman (Freddie), the president and CEO of Nachman International Trading Corporation (NITC). They were a Jewish family and peaceful people. Her world shattered when her husband disappeared in Lagos, Nigeria, in August of 1976. He was only there for business; who would have been after his life?
At that time, tensions between the armed forces and the political establishment in Nigeria were very high, and traitors were publicly executed. The country had experienced a coup, which made it unsafe. The only person who could be sent to find Freddie was Richard, a lawyer who has been to Nigeria recently, knows the people and their language, and knows some people who can pull strings. Will Richard be able to find Freddie in such an unstable country?
