Review of Impact
Impact by Mark D. Owen is a futuristic science fiction novel that chronicles the journey of several remarkable individuals whose ingenuity and determination deeply impact the course of humanity. The story follows Dr. Kohlrabi Trust, Tamarind Chase, Flax Venture, and other members of a group called the Pan-Nationals. These individuals tackle challenging human problems, create solutions to significant global issues, and establish powerful and innovative companies in various industries.
Dr. Kohlrabi Trust, the governor of Moonbase Verity, is responsible for coordinating scientists from various countries and ensuring the smooth operation of the base. When an unfortunate series of events destroys many of Earth’s satellites, the debris severely impacts the operation and safety of Moonbase Verity. Stranded on the moon and in a dire situation, Kohlrabi reaches out to his friend Tamarind Chase for help. This request marks the beginning of a long and challenging journey to address the crisis and navigate the ensuing events.
Firstly, I want to commend the author for this remarkable piece of fiction. The detailed scientific explanations, advanced technology, and vivid descriptions are outstanding and made it easy for me to immerse myself in the futuristic world and the devastating events. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by how the story progressed while remaining true to the initial storyline.
I truly enjoyed how the author integrated space technology, drone technology, international politics, human nature, and genuine emotions into the storyline. While I can’t speak to the accuracy of the scientific details and explanations, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about them.
The main characters are well-written, complex, and multi-faceted. Their backgrounds, personalities, and the evolution of their relationships throughout the book are innovative and well-crafted. Their genuine interactions helped me relate to their struggles and triumphs, and I became invested in their stories. One of the book’s most intriguing aspects is its exploration of human tension and disunity, juxtaposed with our capacity for camaraderie and unity in the face of challenges.
The book’s only potential downside is that people who don’t appreciate detailed scientific explanations may think it slows down the story. Even though I didn’t grasp all the scientific details, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the story. I think the details were well integrated and only added to the story.
As a big fan of science fiction, particularly space exploration fiction, I can’t think of anything I dislike about the book. Therefore, considering everything I said above, I rate Impact a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to science fiction lovers who want to explore ideas about advanced space technologies.
