It has been ten years since Sheldon's disappearance, and the crew is back again for a reunion. His disappearance has haunted them all these years, but recently they have been scarred by the same nightmare. It begins with Nick. In his dream, he hears Sheldon but is not able to see him. Ten years ago, Sheldon, Nick, Leslie, Pedro, Celia, and Ambrose were all in this same place; however, not all of them made it out alive, as after this incident, Sheldon went missing and hasn't been found since then. Once I started The Middle Reaches (Episodes 1–8) by L. Andrew Cooper, I always wondered what happened to Sheldon, and the book provides all the answers in such a way that the reader is patient enough to go through all the episodes, even more than the eighth episode.

I found a lot of things to like about this book. The author's descriptions of the horror location are vivid. Due to his description, I can understand the reason behind the book's title. Another aspect that I liked about this book is that it doesn't fail to accurately execute the suspense. It is built gradually and then dropped like a bomb on the reader. Some suspense takes two episodes or more to resolve, and I liked this a lot as it kept me engaged with the narrative.

The negative aspect of this book is that it doesn't bear illustrations, and even though I have praised the author's descriptive prowess, I still yearned for drawings to save my imagination from the labor. This book has so much potential, and the locations the author described would have had more life if they were depicted for the readers to see. However, I found no errors in this book, as it was properly edited. I acknowledge the author not just for his descriptive prowess but for his editorial prowess too. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars due to these reasons, and I recommend it to any fan of horror thrillers and suspense because this book is based on such content.
