Kalliope Barlis' "Play Golf Better Faster: ”The Little Golf Bag Book” is a useful guide for any golfer introducing new ideas to their game. It separates from many golf books that are mostly centered on the physical aspect of playing; Barlis decides to conduct a mental and emotional angle of the game. This guide applies NLP features to improve the players’ performance during the game; it focuses on mental preparations that can affect physical performances on the golf course.

A distinct feature of the style of the book is where the author is alternately presenting body chapters and then practical chapters. It begins with the definition of the essential input of NLP and its applicability to golfing, wherein lucidity in the mind and stability in the emotion can by themselves make a great difference on the problem. After that, Barlis suggests various drills that are supposed to help transform a player’s mental state to attend to the requirements of the game. While many of these exercises are presented in a theoretical context, there is always a practical component that meets the golfer at whatever level they are at, from beginner to professional.

I really like that this book does not only address the theoretical framework of the issues but also provides advice on solving them. Lacking in technicality yet filled with Barlis’ characteristic directness, this book does not include vocabulary that would confuse the reader and provides tips that could be put into use right away. For example, she invites the readers to use visualization and concentration exercises, which may come in handy when one has to perform under pressure.

A small negative aspect is that some of the readers might consider the mental techniques as slightly less natural compared to conventional swing exercises. However, for those willing to turn to more diverse techniques of their training, these techniques can bring rather important advantages. There was nothing I disliked about this book. The richness of the book is in the clean, excellently edited, and concise writing that literally makes the thought process even in complicated problems clearer.

I rate "Play Golf Better Faster: “The Little Golf Bag Book” as a 5 star out of 5 book. Not only has the plot been thoroughly developed, but the humor has also been used perfectly. The fact that the book dwells on the mental aspects of golfing remains a powerful selling point, as does the inclusion of mental exercises and well-written layman language, which makes this a great book that can be beneficial to the beginner and the professional golfer. This feature of the author, to convert mental preparation into actual advice for enhancing one’s performance, is a factor that makes this text special. This book is very recommended for every sport’s man, especially those who are playing golf and willing to improve their mental abilities.
