Review of The Northern Pike Story

[Following is a volunteer review of "The Northern Pike Story" by Thomas Ashmore.]
Have you ever visited an old small town near a lake and listened to the seniors sitting around telling fish stories? In Madison Creek, two such men hang around the coffee shop, playing chess and telling all these great stories of the big fish that escaped. Tom and Joe have known each other since they were infants. They grew up and married two sisters, Kathrine and Holly. One day, as they were sitting outside the coffee shop, sipping their coffee and playing chess, three college students arrived with their boat and fishing gear. Tom and Joe inquire as to what the three students expect to catch. They mention a few different kinds of fish, one being Northern Pike. Tom and Joe quickly add that they won’t catch any pike in Lake Moraine and bet the students a steak dinner if they catch any. They tell the college kids that there is a story behind the absence of the Northern Pike and say that they will tell them the story when the kids return from their fishing expedition. When the students Damien, Larry, and Ron return with all kinds of fish but the pike, they sit down with Tom and Joe and have lunch while they hear the long story.
I was incredibly delighted to read this story as my father was an avid fisherman and sometimes took me fishing when I was young. I can picture the small town and the loading ramp where you can launch your boat. I can picture my father sitting around telling stories about the many fishing trips he had been on.
The fishing story, or the Lake Moraine Phenomenon, is a long but interesting story with many characters involved. It takes hours to tell the story in detail and is quite fascinating. There was nothing that I detested about The Northern Pike Story: Lake Moraine Phenomenon by Thomas Ashmore. It was a very compelling story with a lot of humor thrown in. The two old guys loved to needle each other endlessly. The book was well-written, well-developed, and markedly well-edited. There was very little profanity, no sex, no drugs, no religion, only good, clean fun, ensuring a comfortable reading experience for all.
The Northern Pike Story: Lake Moraine Phenomenon, with its engaging narrative and relatable characters, is a book that can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. The author’s writing style is simple and easy to follow, making it a perfect read for anyone looking for a good fish story.
