[Following is a volunteer review of "Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book" by Kalliope Barlis.]
Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis is a guide to bettering and strengthening your golf game. It can also serve as a learning manual for novice players and other interested people. In this book, Barlis includes mental practices and exercises that help you enhance your self-confidence and mental prowess regarding your game. This book is a useful and compact asset that will help you improve your game.
Golf is unlike all other sports out there; it is a game that requires calculation, strategies, and confidence rather than physical strength, and Barlis captures that and emphasizes it in her book. She includes stories and tools from her personal experiences that helped her master golf in just two years. The author has a vast teaching experience spanning an admirable 20 years, and it shows in her book. Bralis explains and demonstrates in her book the monumental effect confidence and positive memories can have on one's golf game.
Apart from just mental strategies, the author also included physical tips aided by helpful diagrams and pictures depicting correct stances to help the novice golfer. She also includes some tales of other famous golfers, like Arnold Palmer, to solidify her suggestions. The author also somewhat tackles the stigma that comes with being a female golfer and tries to prove that women can excel at a generally male dominated game, and I believe her expertise in golf does just that.
I found no negatives in the book; it was brief, precise, and very well edited, as I found no errors.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars as it fulfills its purpose and reaches its target in a very efficient manner. It is beginner friendly and is a portable variation of the original book, with only minor changes. I enjoyed reading it and learned a lot about golf, and I recommend this book to amateur golfers looking to improve their game, to experienced players looking to refresh the basics and gain some more helpful tips, and to people who are generally interested in golf and want to learn more.
