I’ve always thought books about sports, especially golf, would be tedious and packed with dull instructions. However, “Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book” by Kalliope Barlis completely changed my view. It was different and provided a refreshing approach to improving your golf game, which made it accessible and extremely engaging. Having read and loved her first book, I was sure this one wouldn't be any different.

Barlis, who went from a newbie to a pro golfer in just two years, shares a mix of practical tips and mental strategies. The book is split into three parts: how to think right, which she termed “using your brain," how to practice smart, and how to play well on the course. Barlis also introduces Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), a technique that helps to improve your mindset and teach you how to focus, which is key in a sport where mental strength often makes the difference between good and great.

What stood out to me was how practical and straightforward the book is. It’s packed with actionable tips that you can start applying immediately. Whether it's perfecting your swing or staying focused under pressure, the advice is easy to follow and implement. The book’s short length was also a plus—it’s a quick read that didn't waste my time. The illustrations included were particularly helpful, giving me a clear picture of what Barlis was describing, which I think is great for those new to golf.

One thing I found slightly off was the heavy focus on NLP. While it is a valuable tool, it felt a bit overemphasized compared to other golf skills. However, it doesn't detract anything from my overall enjoyment of this book.

I rate “Play Golf Better Faster” 5 out of 5 stars because it is well-edited, and I only found one error. Also, the writing is clear and engaging. If you’re looking to boost your golf skills or start from scratch, this book is a fantastic resource. It’s practical, insightful, and perfect for anyone wanting to enhance their game and gain confidence on the course.
