[Following is a volunteer review of "Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book" by Kalliope Barlis.]
One of my favorite lines from the book was, "People think they can buy their game, but all of the resources to improve are within them." Which is not only true for golf but for life too.
After reading the first book by Kalliope Barlis, i.e., Play Golf Better Faster: The Classic Guide to Optimizing Your Performance and Building Your Best Fast, which was extremely well-written, informative, and encouraging, I was excited to read her second book when I found it. And this one didn't disappoint either.
Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis is a short manual to excel in the skills of golf faster. The author has used the knowledge she learned from her teacher, her own teaching techniques, and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) methods to guide readers toward learning faster and better golf. The book provides various practical methods and techniques to improve one's skill in golf, along with NLP techniques dealing with the mental portion of the game.
In this book, the author has included content that was not in her previous book. The main theme, that is, 'You are the Universe', starts the book with a unique and beautiful energy for a sports guidebook. The author has divided the book into three sections. The first section deals with the mental elements and techniques; the second deals with practicing the game; and the third deals with playing the game. The communicative and easy-to-understand writing style makes the book more engaging and helpful.
I liked how the author used various exercises with questionnaires for the reader to not only read and learn from the book but also engage with it and plan while reading it. I also liked how the author used the note for left-handed players before the content of the book actually started.
I would give Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis 5 out of 5 stars. The book is well-written, informative, and exceptionally edited. The writing style of the author is communicative and easy to understand, which I found quite interesting and engaging. The book is to the point, filled with various practical and mental techniques, as said, a mini golf bag guidebook. There was nothing for me to dislike or deduct the point from. Everything was well written and explained with illustrations. If there is one thing that I might want to change about the book, then it would be to include the illustrations where they are talked about instead of in the appendix. However, since this did not deter my reading or understanding experience, I didn't deduct any points.
I liked how this is more than just a golf guidebook. The major theme of the book is very inspirational, and most mental techniques can be used to excel in many areas of life. I would suggest this book to anyone looking for a good golf guide.
