[Following is a volunteer review of "McDowell" by William H. Coles.]
William H. Coles' gripping book "McDowell" revolves around a surgeon who has no care for anyone and removes anyone who gets in his way, whether they are a friend, coworker, or member of his family. In addition to discussing a variety of topics, the book looks at the consequences of poor parenting, betrayal, and other vices.
In this book, Coles describes a surgeon by the name of McDowell who, despite his training and expertise, possesses negative qualities. He has a hateful and indifferent connection with women, showing little regard for people of the other gender. However, one positive trait he exhibits is his strong admiration for his children. He is fortunate to have a daughter who produces documentaries and a son who has an ear for music. He encourages them in every manner he can and follows up with them on a regular basis. The lives and times of McDowell are interesting to read about because of his humility in the face of adversity and his conceit as a surgeon.
This exquisite book was masterfully written by the author. I enjoyed how suspenseful the story was. The book's front cover appeals to me as well; it has striking visuals. I liked that there were many moral teachings in the novel. To start, I would say that it teaches parents the fundamentals of good parenting and inspires youth, or rather, provides youth with reasons to live moral lives. The book was highly captivating and fascinating to read because of the author's use of character development, which allowed the introduction of new characters to flow naturally with the story. I learned a lot from the book, and I find it educating because it explores the themes of betrayal, friendship, and trust, so therefore I didn’t dislike anything about the book.
I give this book a five out of five star rating. One thing I enjoyed about the book is the fact that it teaches morals. While reading the book, I encountered some errors, showing that the book was professionally edited. I will recommend this book to lovers of fiction because I believe it will interest them.
