The world has known many activists from different countries; therefore, the unique story of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's activism only adds to the long, admirable list. As an Algerian ambassador, he fought for the country's liberation while still offering community services to Ivory Coast. Other qualities that make him special have been documented by him in his autobiographical memoir, A Dream For Peace.

The ambassador got adequate educational qualifications, which lent him quite a great deal of exposure. He schooled in France and later went to further his education in the United States of America. I loved the fact that he was well-traveled, which made him well-informed about the cultures of other people.

A Dream For Peace is an educational memoir because it has witty anecdotes from the diplomatic service in the chapter titled "Diplomacy of Smiles." I also learned a lot from the aspect where the author was actively engaged in fighting colonizers for the independence of Algeria, and he served as a mediator in the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, which he solved from a rational stance.

Another great thing to learn from the book is how Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was liberal in his associations, both in friendships and marriage. He made many Jewish friends and displayed admirable qualities in their friendship, highlighting the importance of friendships. He was a Muslim who took the bold step of getting married to a Christian woman. He had a great and very admirable relationship, as well as an interesting love story with his spouse, Titi.

I was awed at the dangers which the author was exposed to because his activism attracted and drew many jealous enemies.

The major challenge associated with reading the autobiographical memoir, A Dream For Peace, is that it has lengthy pages, and quite several readers might not feel comfortable having to sit down to read such a lengthy read.

I'm rating the book with five out of five stars because I found just five errors in it (they are not enough for me to deduct a star) and there was nothing to dislike in it.

I recommend Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's autobiographical memoir to readers who love to read about political and social affairs.
