I went into "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" with no particular expectations, but I was genuinely surprised by how captivating and enjoyable it was. It turned out to be an incredibly captivating read, and I’m happy to give it a full 5 out of 5 stars. The way the story unfolded, with each character's journey adding intrigue to the overall story, made it hard to put down.

The characters were well-drawn and are what hooked me. Meldorath, the dark mage, is fascinating in his complexity, and there’s a real sense of history and menace behind his actions that makes him a really interesting character. When Meldorath reclaims his power, the chaos and fear he brings with him create some of the most intense moments in the story. His presence looms large over the entire plot, making every scene he’s involved in feel charged with tension.

Then there’s Lord Eldus, whose story I found both inspiring and tragic. He’s a man trying to rebuild a broken town after the horrors inflicted by previous lords. His dedication to healing Hillport, especially the children scarred by the past, is heroic, even when his noble efforts were being met with so many overwhelming challenges—particularly the attack by the Riva Rohavi.

Apart from the characters, the plot itself is intense and captivating. The Riva Rohavi, with their fierce and calculated resurgence, add a layer of unpredictability to the story. Their attack on Hillport adds even more tension, leaving devastation in their wake and shaking the kingdom to its core. Meanwhile, King Wilhelm struggles to maintain control amid rising threats—from Chancellor Maido’s scheming to Meldorath’s dark influence. The stakes remain high throughout the book.

On top of the compelling story and characters, the book is also exceptionally well edited. There were no negative aspects, and the story so effortlessly pulled me in and kept me engaged from start to finish. The book exceeded my expectations in every way, and I'll readily recommend it, whether you’re into fantasy, political intrigue, or just a good, character-driven story.
