Dorothy May Mercer’s "E M P Honeymoon" takes readers on a high-octane journey that mixes science fiction with suspense and romance. The author started the book by introducing readers to Kelly and Tom Turbulo, a couple on their honeymoon in Honduras, expecting a serene getaway. However, their vacation quickly turns perilous when Kelly stumbles upon a hidden lab and uncovers a terrorist plot involving an EMP attack on North America.

The book shines with its gripping narrative and well-drawn characters. Kelly’s quick thinking and Tom’s determination come to the forefront as they navigate a dangerous situation far from home. The portrayal of their relationship adds emotional depth to the action, making their commitment to each other and their mission resonate with readers. Mercer excels at setting the scene. The settings are described in vivid detail, immersing readers in the story’s tense atmosphere. The urgency and danger are palpable, particularly in scenes that describe the potential impact of the EMP attack. However, the plot occasionally feels a bit disjointed. Some plot twists and outcomes seem abrupt, lacking the setup and foreshadowing that could have made them more impactful.

Character development is another strong suit of the book. Kelly and Tom are depicted with authenticity, and their dynamic is both engaging and believable. The editing of this book is excellent, with no errors. The book’s combination of science fiction, romance, and action creates a compelling read. It offers an exciting narrative that holds the reader’s attention from start to finish.

I strongly award this book 5 out of 5 stars. It’s a well-crafted novel with a thrilling plot and engaging characters; my above flaws were only minor and didn't affect my reading. Fans of suspense and action will find this book a satisfying read, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating story that blends high-stakes drama with personal stakes.
