Review of Island Games
Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants by the author Caleb J. Boyer is a work of fiction that leaves many significant life lessons behind it for young adults of this generation. The story revolves around two young, teenage boys, Matthew and Ryan, who wake up on a creepy island with no trace of knowledge about their arrival there and an erased memory of their past life incidents.
At first, they don’t know what to do for their survival because of a lack of food and water and they don’t have any conceptions regarding their next step. As time goes on, with an increased struggle to find food and water in each quadrant and the peaked challenge of fighting with beasts, they realize their concern for the island and its game and decide to get rid of it at any cost. Will they escape from that creepy island? Who placed them there? What were the struggles and lessons waiting for the boys? To know the answers to the above questions and more, be ready to dwell on the adventure through “Island Games.”
The simple yet powerful base and concept of the story made it more interesting and adventurous. The author’s way of exhibiting life-enlightening lectures using the flow of the story without a lack of interest in the novel is amazing. It is more important to praise the author for his mastery of storytelling, which takes the reader on a dashing journey along with Matthew and Ryan, which gives a roller-coaster feeling throughout the tale.
The most attractive part of the book is the author’s creativity and his ideal descriptions of each quadrant’s settings and their uniqueness, such as jungle, temple, desert, and frozen mountain. While coming across the characters of the novel, at first, Matthew’s role was vital because of his willpower, clarity in thinking, decision-making, and so on. But in the story’s flow, Ryan’s role is also considered important because of his skills in encouraging and helping Matthew in hard times. The balanced character depiction of Matthew and Ryan by the author left a heroic impression on both of them with no inequality.
The vivid writing style increases the heartbeat of the readers and drags them to the edge of their seats in every part of the story. It also helps boost the clarity of imagination in each quadrant for the readers. Because of the novel’s range and content, it not only suits young adults, but also adults.
All through the tale, I didn’t find any negativity. I didn’t find any grammatical mistakes, which shows that the book was professionally edited.
Finally, I would like to give 5 out of 5 stars for this book. I would recommend this novel to readers who love to read thrilling, adventuresome books.
