Matthew Tysz’s “We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies” serves as a captivating introduction to a promising fantasy series. The book tells about Galen Bray, who runs away from his war-ravaged homeland and goes to live in the mysterious realm of Voulhire. When he inherits his uncle's forge in the peaceful town of Magnum Caelum, Galen becomes entangled in the political trap, power, and dark magic in that kingdom. There is unrest in Voulhire as it teeters on the precipice; Midius Maido is an evil Chancellor whereas Lord Meldorath an exiled mage with overpowering abilities returns to his native place. By skillfully weaving together an absorbing world-building process, intricate politics, and unforgettable characters; Tysz creates a fascinating narrative that keeps readers glued until the very end. The depth of the book offsets its sometimes thick descriptions, making it a must-read hence deserving a 5-star rating.

The author has managed to develop multidimensional characters whose motivations are revealed slowly through their backstories. Galen is like many other protagonists: he is full of hope and wants to begin anew but he is ignorant about what lies beneath this kingdom’s surface. Supporting casts like the noble Lord Eldus Alderman or the even sinister Meldorath contribute towards enriching this storyline.

Tysz manages suspense and mystery without rushing things as he sets up his tale well enough at first and then increases tension gradually throughout its unfolding chapters. The plot alternates smoothly between two levels: a learning journey undertaken by Galen while broader disagreements brew within Voulhire. The story has unexpected turns that keep readers engaged because they are curious about what happens next.

Despite being excellent in numerous areas, some people might find "We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" too complex due to extensive world-building necessitating careful attention to dense descriptions and difficult political dynamics. Furthermore, the dark themes and occasional graphic scenes might not be appealing to all. All the same, these do not take away from its overall greatness and subsequent 5-star rating.

The book is excellent and the editing of the book is flawless with no grammatical or punctuation errors. It is written perfectly overall, and the book deserves 5 stars.

Overall, Matthew Tysz's "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" is a fantastic beginning to a promising fantasy series. Through an integration of world-building techniques, character development skills as well as complex plots, Tysz has made this a must-read book for anyone who likes fantasy novels. It thus sets off readers on a journey they will crave to continue with other stories meeting high expectations.
