This book has everything! Unbalanced by Courtney Shepard is a fantasy book but has so much more than fantasy to offer. It has romance, action, paranormal beings, family ties, soldiers, etc.

I could not put this book down. It is mainly about four sisters (Asha, Mere, Avia and Ivy) who draw power from the four elements which are fire, air, water and earth. They are orphans who had been separated their whole lives and now they must come together against the Order. There is also a reason they should stay apart but I can't tell you without giving too much away (sorry). The Order is basically a military group sent to capture and destroy the sisters. There is an even greater danger if they are caught by the paranormal beings who gave those orders. Along the way they will meet four brothers (Rio, Clay, Aron and Cole) who they do have more in common with than they think.

There is a lot of action in this book. There are battles with and without using elements. There are battles also within themselves. Each girl has a past and you will learn each of them. This book is very detailed on each character as far as looks, personality and what goes on inside their heads. Usually, when I watch a movie or read a book, I wonder why a character is the way that they are and this book will answer those questions for you.

There are romance scenes which are very detailed. You will see how each relationship is connected and how it grows. There are trust issues, heated moments, tense moments, fear moments, sad moments, etc. I love that all of these moments are happening during a fast-paced and action-packed adventure. It really does have something for everyone.

You will start in the middle ages and you will end in modern times connecting everything along the way. There will be flashbacks in between. You will feel the bond between siblings and see that you can gain strength through love and loyalty. Although everyone can be independent, strong individuals, there is a lot to be said for how much stronger you become when you have the support you need.

If I had to critique anything about the book it would be that there is more focus on Asha than there are on the other sisters. However, this is the first book of the series so that could change. I would still give a 4 out of 4 rating and I can't wait to read more.
