[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
This book is the first in the Voulhire series and tells the story of Galen Bray, who escapes from his troubled homeland and moves to the kingdom of Voulhire. He comes to Voulhire to take over his late uncle’s forge in a small town called Magnum Caelum. The kingdom of Voulhire is much more peaceful compared to Galen’s old home, where wars and suffering were common.
As Galen settles into his new life, he discovers that Voulhire is not as perfect as it seems. There are dangerous and magical forces at play. The book introduces us to Lord Eldus, who is sent to fix problems in Hillport, a city with a dark past. There is also the story of Meldorath, a powerful mage with a history of terrible actions. His presence adds a lot of mystery and excitement to the story.
I like the way the world in the book is built. The map at the beginning helps readers picture the setting and understand where everything is happening. The author describes places and magic clearly, making the story easy to imagine. The characters are well-developed, and the story is told from different viewpoints, which makes it more interesting.
The writing is clear and simple, which makes the book easy to read. The plot is engaging, with a good mix of adventure, magic, and political intrigue. Even though there are many characters and different storylines, everything comes together well, keeping the reader interested. There was nothing I disliked about this book.
I found no issues with the book. The editing is impeccable, with no errors that would distract from the story. The author has created a detailed and captivating world that draws the reader in and keeps them wanting more.
I am giving this book 𝟱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝟱 stars because it is a fantastic read. The story is exciting, the world is well-built, and the characters are interesting. The author has done a great job of creating a book that is both entertaining and well-written. I recommend this book to those who enjoy fantasy stories with magic and adventure.
