Get ready for the next big book-to-film adaptation! Superhighway by Alex Fayman has everything young readers and viewers lust in today’s entertainment. This fast-paced technological triumph has enough action and intrigue to keep audiences on the edge of their seat through the entire read. A young, smart, and attractive male protagonist surrounded by fast cars, beautiful women, and unbelievable locations fits the bill for the perfect, hot, young thriller.
The story follows an eighteen-year-old, Alex, (yes, the author named the main character after himself) who has just fallen upon a scientific anomaly that he cannot understand, or explain, but will change his life forever. Rather than question his newfound luck, Alex decides to roll with the punches and ask questions later. Now able to transport himself across the globe in a matter of moments, Alex takes full advantage of this opportunity to rewrite his own story. After a lifetime in an orphanage, its full steam ahead and bright lights, big city for the young hotshot.
Readers find, however, that he’s not all surface and there is actually a bit of substance behind the newfound traveler. Alex assigns himself the role of a modern-day Robin Hood and soon finds altruism isn’t as simple as stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Suddenly neck-deep in hot water Alex is presented with the truth about his past and newfound ability. Rather than heed advice to take it slow, readers find him rushing headlong into a situation that is sure to spell big trouble. The biggest trouble of his life.
I was pleasantly surprised by the professional writing style, and uninterrupted flow found within Fayman’s book. I easily devoured the pages of fast-paced plot changes and found myself wanting more after each scene. Superhighway is an excellent book for travel lovers or those who lust for travel. Fayman does a skillful job painting vivid scenescapes full of life and reality. I would definitely suggest this book for adults or mature youth. The frequent alcohol, marijuana and sex scenes likely keep it out of reach for classroom babes.
I rated Superhighway 4 out of 4 stars, indeed a riveting read. The errors were next to none, and the plot housed a genuinely new and innovative idea. Prospective readers should imagine a mix between Frankenstein, Ocean’s Twelve, and The Matrix. This is the first book in the series and leaves readers rushing for the sequel following a true cliffhanger ending. Seeing what danger is next for Alex is at the top of my list!
