Matthew Tysz's We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies takes readers on a riveting adventure through the Land of Princes, a once-thriving country now devastated by hunger, conflict, and war. The protagonist, Galen Bray, is a young man whose upbringing in his native region has made him tough. Galen finds a ray of hope for a fresh start when he finds out about an inheritance from his uncle in Voulhire, a distant place that has not seen the same level of hardship. In addition to his bequest, he finds a letter and a blacksmith's manual that his uncle had left behind, giving him the means to carve out a fresh start when he gets there. Together, Galen and his newfound companion in Voulhire set out to discover the secrets of this strange land. Along the way, they encounter perplexing situations, obstacles, and revelations that play a pivotal role in the story's development.
The plot is intricate and full of unexpected twists and turns, and Tysz does a masterful job of balancing Galen's personal growth with the larger story. Even though I'm not usually one to read fantasy novels, I was captivated by this one because of the way it dealt with character development. Careful consideration is given to the relationships between each character, and their roles are crucial in moving the story forward. In the same way that Galen goes from being a weary survivor to someone looking for a new beginning, Lord Eldus Alderman, who must restore the economy of Voulhire under King Wilhelm, must do the same.
The narrative's complexity is enhanced by these personal journeys, which take place against a backdrop of political and magical intrigue. The flawless editing is one thing readers will notice about the book. The flawless, well-organized writing creates a captivating and pleasurable reading experience. This meticulousness elevates the narrative, enabling readers to stay engrossed without interruptions. This book is absolutely fantastic; I give it five stars. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies manages to weave a story that is both magical and mysterious, with just the right amount of science fiction thrown in. This book is enjoyable because of Tysz's skill in weaving together character-driven narrative with a vividly conceived universe. Anyone seeking a superbly written fantasy with an enthralling story should read it.
